My 1084S-P that I was lucky to find (great picture, clean) just died yesterday. I’ve only used it less than maybe 3 hours in total since acquiring it and it appeared to not have many hours of use in its lifetime. So clean inside. I had a C64 demo up and running, walked away for approx 10-15 mins and when I returned, I was greeted to a blank screen and no audio. Power LED is still on. I powered it down and let it rest a while. When I powered it back on, there was no static charge. No glow from the CRT. After a short time, I begin to smell an odd odor…not a burning smell and no smoke. Could this be ozone? Not wanting to flood my area with something potentially harmful, I have turned it off and unplugged it for now. Never heard any whining noise, by the way. I suspect it is still flyback related. I hear ozone is produced by high voltages and its presence could mean a leak somewhere.
Hi,
no static charge, you have a good percentage that is the flyback transformer burned, otherwise the damage is a little more serious.
Hello, my name is Diego Arévalo and I am writing to you from Argentina. Nice to see you. I would like to ask you a question. I bought a commodores monitor 1084 S-P, which is missing the flyback. Is the flyback AT2079 / 30102 (equivalent to FLyback HR 7506) the right flyback for this monitor? Would the HR 7506 flyback work well on this monitor? I have a doubt if this is the right replacement. I appreciate a help in this regard. I’m afraid to make a mistake of a flyback model and burn the monitor. Best regards
Ciao, ho un 1084s con lo stesso idendico sintomo. Dove è possibile acquistare il suddetto trasformatore di riga?
Grazie!
hi,
yes, hr7506 seems the correct equivalent: http://www.hrdiemen.com/reparation/flyback/model/7506

Hi,
Ive a 1084s-P1 monitor with the issues described in this post. Ive bought a HR7506 equivalent, but ive noticed that it has a extra pin.
Do you have a scheme of some sort? or can you point which pin ive to cut?
Thanks,
@Retromania.pt
Hi the 1084S-P1 (P1) use a different flyback : HR7533

Qualche indizio?
