Sega Megadrive Mini 2

Sega Megadrive Mini 2

Some time has passed since the last and useless purchase and like the previous ones there is little to say all the “mini” are practically identical, change the external box, the menu and some chips inside that for the occasion are the latest version (more or less).

I used a very lame HDMI to Composite Video converter to try it with a CRT monitor.

Konami - PC Engine Core Grafx Mini

I’m here with yet another useless purchase (order dating back to 2019).

There is absolutely nothing to say, all the “mini” are practically identical, change the external box, the menu and some chips inside that for the occasion are the latest version (more or less).

Strangely i have tried the “thing” … usually i don’t do that.

I used an HDMI to Composite Video converter to try it with a CRT monitor.

The C64 Mini & Max. There are those who like it and those who don’t

The C64 Mini & Max. There are those who like it and those who don’t.

There are those who like and those who do not like said Totò in the movie “Totò in color“, personally they make me throw up both. I have nothing more to say about these two terrible objects that try to EMULATE the Commodore 64 and the VIC-20 and should remember the 80s.

Why did i buy them ? i bought them because i like to collect beautiful things and ugly things, useless things and even more useless things.

So there is no a real “why”, i can only say that i haven’t even tried them, they are still packaged and will remain packed forever.

Sega Mega Drive Mini (EU/USA/JAP) + MD Tower Mini (JAP)

Sega Mega Drive Mini (EU/USA/JAP) + Mega Drive Tower Mini (JAP)

The monkey took me to collect all the Mini Consoles and Computers.

It all started when the NES Mini came out and then i have continued with all versions of NES and of Super Nintendo, PSX Mini, The C64 Mini and NeoGeo Mini.

And now … i fell again; Sega Mega Drive Mini, which includes the European, American and Japanese versions + Mega Drive Tower Mini (Japan).

What i can say about the Sega Megadrive Mini/Tower mini and about the Packaging ? aesthetically very beautiful, about the software? the usual soup, but i don’t like to play so the problem does not arise :-)

NOTE: The USB Joypad works perfectly under Windows 10, personally tested with the Dolhpin emulator (WII/Gamecube).

SNK NeoGeo Mini (40th Anniversary) JAP Version

SNK NeoGeo Mini (40th Anniversary) JAP Version

SNK Neo Geo Mini (40th Anniversary) JAP Version.

The Neo Geo Mini is an all-in-one system designed like a mini arcade cabinet with 40 classic games on board.

The 3.5-inch 4:3 screen isn’t going to deliver amazing viewing angles or contrast, but it looks fine head-on and, critically, it displays everything in a crisp, native resolution, which is essential for the art of these games.

There’s a pleasingly substantial power button on the back as well as three USB-C ports — two for controllers, one for power. The back panel also houses a Mini HDMI port and a headphone jack.

The selection of games is not going to be for everyone, but then neither is SNK’s history in general.

Twenty-five of the 40 games are 2D fighters, including all 10 King of Fighters titles that ran on Neo Geo arcade hardware, three Samurai Shodown games, the first Art of Fighting, and four Fatal Fury games, including the eternal classic Garou: Mark of the Wolves.

Elsewhere, you’ll find side-scrolling shooters like Metal Slug 1 through 3, along with shmups like Blazing Star and Twinkle Star Sprites.

I took unpretentious photos, if you are interested in photos with a excellent quality of the neogeo mini just search on the net, also you can see i have not yet attached the stickers that are supplied as standard.

Now you can also insult me because I bought an object like that, saying the usual and banal phrase: but it’s a raspberry! you know that i couldn’t care less.

Nintendo Classic Mini

I don’t want to make yet another boring review of the Nintendo Classic Mini, there are many on the net.

I will just say that is made very well, the 30 games included are emulated very well and seem bug free at least i have not found anyone.

The games selection menu is done very well, fast and intuitive.

The appearance is what impressed me, very beautiful and solid.

I have nothing else to say.

GiG – Techno Source Intellivision 25 in 1 (Boxed)

GIG - Techno Source Intellivision 25 in 1

Autopsy:

from Wikipedia:

Techno Source was one of the pioneers of the ‘retro gaming’ market, creating TV Game systems that plug directly into your TV. Their products were one of the reasons for the increased “popularity of these devices from a 30 million dollar industry 4–5 years ago to over 500 million dollars” today.

After entering into a licensing partnership with Intellivision in 2003, Techno Source introduced the Intellivision 25, which features 25 original Intellivision games in one plug-and-play unit. With the success of the Intellivision 25 and its follow-up, the Intellivision 10, Techno Source sold over 1,000,000 units and received the National Parenting Center Seal of Approval in 2004.

This line now includes the 2-player Intellivision X2 and the Intellivision 10 2nd Edition. According to the Blue Sky Rangers, the original programmers of the Intellivision games, Techno Source has sold more Intellivision games today than Mattel Electronics originally sold in the 1980s.

Atari Flashback (Mini 7800)

Atari Flashback (Mini 7800)

Autopsy:

from Wikipedia:

The Atari Flashback was released in 2004. The console resembled an Atari 7800 in appearance, and came with a pair of controllers which resembled those of the Atari 7800 but were slightly smaller.

The system had twenty games built-in, all originally developed by Warner Communication’s Atari Inc. and Atari Corp. for the 2600 and 7800 game systems. The games which originally required analog paddle controllers were made to work with the included joysticks. It was designed by Atari veteran Curt Vendel, whose company Legacy Engineering Group designs other home video game and video arcade products.

Atari Inc. gave Legacy Engineering ten weeks to design the product, produce its games, and ready it for the 2004 Winter holiday season. The Atari Flashback was based on “NES-on-a-chip” hardware, not resembling either of the Atari systems which the Flashback was supposed to represent. As a result, the games it contained were ports and differed in varying degrees from the original games, and therefore the Flashback was unpopular with some purists.
