VirtualC64 v1.0 Beta 8 for Mac OSx

August 25th, 2009 No comments

VirtualC64 emulates a Commodore 64 personal computer on your Macintosh. I wrote the software with two major goals in mind. First, I wanted to create an emulator that can be used as a demonstrator program in a first year or second year course on computer engineering.

To achieve this goal, I have integrated various debugging capabilities that let you peek inside the CPU, RAM, ROM, or one of the custom chips. Second, I tried to make the emulator as user friendly as it can get.

In short: VirtualC64 tries to combine the ongoing fascination of the ancient Commodore computers with the great user experience of today’s Macs.

Changelog:

Fixed in beta 8

  • Joystick handler has been rewritten from scratch. It’s now message based and supports hot plugging.
  • Fixed a race condition that could cause the emulator to crash during shutdown.
  • Fixed some minor GUI issues.

acid64playerlogoACID 64 Player Pro is the sequal of Acid 64 Player and is a cycle based Commodore 64 music player designed for playing SID tunes on sound cards/devices that have a real SID chip (6581/6582/8580) on board like the HardSID cards and HardSID 4U USB device.

ACID 64 emulates the MOS 6510 micro processor, the 6526 CIA chip and partially the 6569 VIC chip to run the code of a SID tune and it controls the SID chip on the device for playing the Commodore 64 music.

What’s new in version v3.0.2:

  • Corrected memory bank setting for PSID tunes.
  • Resizing window was corrupting active row of search grids.
  • Minimal width is now set correctly.

  • Selecting a search filter will change the color of the filter box.
  • Copy filename strips HVSCRoot automatically.
  • Seeking (dragging thumb) can now be cancelled by pressing escape key or by pressing right mouse button.

64Copy v4.42 Released

June 14th, 2009 No comments

64COPY is an all-purpose DOS and C64 emulator file manager, modelled after Norton Commander, and runs fine under the Windows XP/2000 DOS VDM, or in real DOS.

64COPY will run in a Windows Vista 32-bit VDM, but Vista 64-bit has no VDM support at all. It specializes in converting and manipulating emulator files between various formats. 64COPY does not do any communication to the 1541/71/81 floppy drives to read disks. If that is what you need, download Star Commander for that task.

Some of what 64COPY does includes:

  • File conversion between D64 (all types, including the F64 variant), D71, D81, D80, D82, DNP, D2M, T64, G64, ZipCode (all types), PC64 (Pxx, Sxx, Uxx, Rxx), LNX, DOS binaries, ARC, CRT, SDA, X64, LBR, ARK, SPY and CPK files.
  • A very powerful 6502 Disassembler.
  • TEXT, HEX and D64 HEX editors.
  • FILE viewer.
  • BASIC unlister.
  • D64, D71, D81, D80 & D82 directory customizer.
  • Check disks and T64, ZipCode, G64, F64 and CRT files for errors.
  • A whole lot more!

GoatTracker/Mac 2.68

May 22nd, 2009 No comments

goattrackerlogo

GoatTracker is a cross-platform tracker written by Lasse Öörni, producing SID chiptune music for the Commodore 64, and released with source code under the GPL. It is notable for being possibly the only SID chiptune-composer NOT native to the C64, as many alternative composers (including JCH, and CyberTracker) only execute on the C64 or inside C64 emulators.

Many SID tunes are available in various formats on the Internet, especially through the High Voltage SID Collection (HVSC). GoatTracker is capable of directly exporting to the .sid (PSID/RSID) file format in addition to standard C64 PRG files.

This Mac OS X port of GoatTracker integrates the cross-platform code with a standard Mac OS X GUI, and adds additional features, such as MIDI keyboard support and comprehensive built-in help.
