Ho riparato questo Atari 800XL per un’amico. Il guasto era causato dalla cpu diffettosa.

Il computer dopo 10 minuti di funzionamento si bloccava completamente e utilizzando un’oscilloscopio ho notato che il piedino di clock della cpu non dava piu’ alcun segnale, spruzzando del ghiaccio sintetico sulla cpu questa riprendeva a funzionare.

Questo tipo di cpu (Atari customized 6502 – C014806-12 Sally) non e’ facile da trovare, ma grazie a Carlo che mi ha donato una cpu di ricambio ho potuto sostituire il componente diffettoso e dare di nuovo vita all’Atari 800XL.

La Spectravideo o brevemente SVI è stata una azienda statunitense produttrice di computer. Fu fondata nel 1981, inizialmente come SpectraVision, da Harry Fox e Oscar Jutzeler.

La SpectraVision iniziò le sue attività distribuendo videogiochi per Atari 2600, Colecovision e VIC-20. Nel 1982 produsse il QuickShot, il primo joystick ergonomico, disponibile per Atari e VIC-20. Alla fine del 1982 la società cambiò nome in Spectravideo perché il nome SpectraVision era già registrato.

Successivamente iniziò a produrre computer alcuni dei quali compatibili con lo standard MSX altri compatibili con lo standard IBM. Il primo tentativo di entrare nel mondo della produzione di computer si ebbe agli inizi del 1983, quando Spectravideo presentò un add-on per l’Atari 2600 chiamato Spectravideo CompuMate. Il CompuMate era dotato di una tastiera a membrana e interprete BASIC integrato. Insieme al CompuMate presentò l’SV-318, a cui seguì a breve il modello SV-328. Adottavano entrambi una CPU Z80 A che operava alla frequenza di 3,6 MHz, ma differivano per la quantità di memoria RAM di cui erano dotati, 16 kB il primo e 64 kB il secondo, per il tipo di tastiera, a membrana il primo e con tasti classici il secondo, e per l’assenza nell’SV-328 del joystick integrato che era presente invece nell’SV-318.

Residente nella ROM di entrambi i modelli vi era una versione del Microsoft BASIC che, come in molti altri computer ad 8 bit dell’epoca, espletava anche le funzioni di sistema operativo. Equipaggiando il computer con un floppy drive l’utente poteva eseguire il boot caricando il sistema operativo CP/M.

ST-Paint è un software di grafica che permette di creare immagini compatibili con lo standard Atari St su un PC con installato M$ Windows.

ST-Paint è ancora in una fase beta ed è stato scritto da Peter Jørgensen lo stesso autore del programma Ym2149 Tracker.

Altirra è un emulatore di Atari 8 bit per Windows/DOS. Emula i vari modelli di computer Atari, infatti include il modello 800, 800XL, 130XE.

Ha un sacco di opzioni e funzionalita’ considerando che l’emulatore e’ ancora nelle fasi iniziali di sviluppo. Tutto sommato un bel emulatore per gli amanti del vecchio computer ATARI 8 Bit.

SpartaDOS X (o SpartaDOS 4.0) è un sistema operativo per i computer Atari 8-bit, questo sistema operativo assomiglia all’MS-DOS ed ‘stato sviluppato e venduto da ICD Inc. nel 1987-1993.

Dieci anni più tardi il sistema operativo SpartaDOS X e’ diventato abandonware, approfittando di questo evento un gruppo di sviluppatori appassionati di retro-computer, in fattispecie di Atari 8-bit, hanno ripreso in mano il codice aggiungendo numerose migliorie e risolvendo molti bug che erano stati identificati tempo addietro.

Atari SAP Music Archive (ASMA) è una collezione di brani musicali Atari XL-XE. ASAP e’ una delle raccolte musicali più grandi e conosciute.

ASMA v3.6 contiene 4630 brani, 315 dei quali sono nuovi! Inoltre il programma SAPMaker è stato ricompilato per essere eseguito con le versioni più recenti di Windows.
